Started out as a mathematics student at UCLA with an interest in differential geometry and topology, then discovered programming. Got my real-world education as a software developer in Silicon Valley for 4 years before going back for a grad degree. Finished my Bioinformatics Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Cruz at the start of 2016, now interested in using data science to improve human health, longevity and quality of life.
