Emmanouil Athanasiadis mathan

Dr. Emmanouil Athanasiadis (b. 1981, Nafplion, Greece) received his BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Greece, in 2004. He received his MSc and PhD in Medical Physics in 2006 and 2010, respectively, from the University of Patras, Greece. His MSc and PhD studies were both funded by the National State Scholarship Foundation of Greece. From 2008 to 2010, he was also awarded with ?K. Karatheodoris? scholariship, as well as worked as early stage researcher in Self-organized societies of connectionist intelligent agents capable of learning (SOCIAL), Pythagoras II and Archimedes I research programs. Dr. Athanasiadis has already participated in a ?Marie Curie? proposal as associate researcher at University Colleague London (UCL) from June to October 2010. Since 2010, he is an Adjunct laboratory instructor (lecturer level) at the Department of Biomedical Technology Engineering, Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Greece. Since 2011, as a postdoctoral fellow at BRFAA, he carried out Breast Cancer research on a FP7 ?cooperation? project entitled ?PIK3CA Oncogenic Mutations in Breast and Colon Cancers: Development of Targeted Anticancer Drugs and Diagnostics?. The central concept was the development of an advanced targeted therapeutic approach of great specificity, which would treat breast and colon cancer. This objective was pursued by using advanced computer-aided methods to identify drug candidates. His research interests also include medical image and signal processing (MRI, CT, XRays, Ultrasound) as well as bioinformatics-chemoinfomatics. Dr. Athanasiadis has authored 17 scientific publications and 31 scientific full papers and abstracts in international conferences.
