Haohan Wang is currently a PhD candidate, research assistant in Language Technologies Institute, School of Computer Science in Carnegie Mellon University. Before that he received a master degree in Carnegie Mellon University and bachelor degree in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, both in computer science.
He is mainly focuses in both Computer Science (Machine Learning, Computational Biology) and Entrepreneurship.

As in Computer Science, his research mainly focuses on applying computation methods to develop novel statistical models and algorithms for genetic association mapping, like eQTL or GWAS analysis.
Besides main focus, he is also interested in applying machine learning approaches, like deep learning, to solve general problems in computational biology domain, language technologies domain or more.
Besides research, his skill set falls in a variety of fields of computer science, like basic programming, software engineering, data analysis, and big data technology.

As in Entrepreneurship, he collaborated with other students to found SynMetric, a company focusing on solving real world problems with neuroscience technology when he was a master.
He also set up an online community to help university applicants to write and polish their application documents.
He was also the director of IT panel, and Vice Chair of CMU Summit on US-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
