Jennifer Schaff jeschaff

Dr. Jennifer Schaff is a Data Scientist at Elder Research with 10+ years of management and data analysis experience. A trained researcher with expertise in large dataset analytics, including genomics, Dr. Schaff?s graduate research focused on identifying host and pathogen genes and other biomarkers that change in expression upon pathogen invasion and infection. Jennifer?s research and analysis development efforts have led to two invention disclosures. As the Director of the fee-for-service Genomics Sciences Lab on NCSU?s campus, Jennifer led a team of laboratory technicians, managers, bioinformaticians, and IT staff in providing genomics and metabolomics support to hundreds of laboratories in the academic, government, and industry space. Dr. Schaff grew the facility and programs by acquiring competitive government and private funding, setting policies and developing long and short term goals. Since joining Elder Research, Jennifer has worked on many diverse projects, including fraud detection, building software demonstrations and dashboards, as well as broadening and strengthening her biology based foundation through analyzing a variety of clinical datasets and developing models to discover biomarkers predictive of disease, including leading a biomarker discovery project resulting in identification of several biomarkers indicative of a specific disease.
