Christian Perez is a doctoral student at Florida International University, studying Public Health with Environmental Health Sciences Focus. I am a passionate individual devoted to learning and teaching others about the intricacies of science. I possess a Bachelor's of Science in Biological Sciences Degree with cum laude distinction from Florida State University located in Tallahassee, Florida. I returned home to my birth city in order to pursue a Masters in Public Health in Environmental & Occupational Health at Florida International University. I have served as a teaching assistant for an above 300 student Anatomy & Physiology Course during my final year at Florida State University. The experience helped me garner a position as a graduate research assistant in my first semester of graduate school proving to be a wonderful opportunity for my professional growth. I served as a graduate teaching assistant for an 83 student Global Health Without Borders course at Florida International University where I organized the final group health poster symposium, aided in the preparation of exam material, and graded short topic essays for all exam answers. Furthermore, I devoted at least 20 volunteer hours each week at the Environmental Genomics Lab examining aggressive stem cells that originate at the onset of Breast Cancer via NRF1 gene network deregulation of oxidative stress inhibitors.I have developed my skills in both teaching and in the laboratory. My first graduate research paper entry on awarded staff pick for best graduate work entry on Alzheimer's research has garnered over 2,000 readers worldwide. My future career interests would be researching chronic diseases (cancers, Alzheimer's, etc.) at the molecular level and how they relate to external environmental stressors our bodies experience each day. I'm ecstatic to begin in the PHD program at the EOH department and expound its research through collaboration and mentorship of its distinguished faculty.
