Jyoti Joshi MD MSc is Head - South Asia at the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP). She is a medical doctor with specialization in Community Medicine (MD) and a Masters of Sciences (MSc) in Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), University of London. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Amity Institute of Public Health, Amity University, Noida, India and leading academic research projects in India. She is currently undertaking two large multi-disciplinary research projects funded by Department of Biotechnology via the Indo-UK Newton-Bhabha fund on AMR in India. These are -Smart regulations for antibiotic use in India within the one health framework (human, animal, and environment) and a Chicken or Egg: Drivers of Antimicrobial Resistance in Poultry in India (DARPI) which aims to estimate and map the use of antibiotics in the poultry industry in three south Indian states.
Prior to CDDEP, Jyoti has worked with the Immunization Technical Support Unit at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India and the Ministry of Health, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Jyoti has played a key role in strengthening the Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) Surveillance system as well as the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization(NTAGI) in India in her previous role. Her work has contributed to the introductions of several new vaccines including Pentavalent vaccine, Inactivated Poliovirus vaccine, Rotavirus vaccine, Pneumococcal Conjugate and adult Japanese Encephalitis vaccine in India as well as the UAE.
