Tiago Carvalho has a bachelor degree in Computer Science from Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), Master and Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Campinas (UNICAMP). During his Ph.D. he investigated problems in the area of digital forensics. Currently, he is an associate professor at Federal Institute of São Paulo - Campinas where investigates problems related with digital forensics and data science applied on challenging fields as health, text processing, among others. He is a reviewer of leading journals in Forensic Computing, Digital Image Processing and Pattern Recognition such as IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, etc.. His research interests include data science, digital forensics, computer vision, image processing and artificial intelligence. In 2011, he received the Best Masters Thesis Award from SIBGRAPI11, one of the largest conferences in Image Processing and Pattern Recognition in Latin America, for his work involving the detection of lesions caused by diabetic retinopathy in eye fundus images. In 2014, also by SIBGRAPI, received the award for best Ph.D. dissertation for his work on detection of image forgery detection. Finally, in 2015, he received second place in the Brazilian Computer Society award, also for his work involving the image forgery detection.
