Controlled access to gene expression data

Hi, I am not sure why the METABRIC data, which is anonymized and gene expression based requires IRB approval when access is requested. What are the grounds for requesting an approved IRB for this dataset? -Hani

Dear Hani, The terms of access for this dataset were those imposed by the data source and are not negotiable. The data contributor included proof of IRB approval/exemption as a term for accessing the data and only they can change these terms. I hope that is helpful to understand.
