TCGA normal v tumour samples

Hi there Can you possibly tell me if there's both normal and tumour samples included in the TCGA expression dataset? If so, where can find the sample type for each of the sample I.D's? Best wishes Erin

Hi Erin, The ID of the sample indicates if the sample belongs to normal tissue, primary tumor, metastasis etc. Normal tissue is 11 (https://gdc.cancer.gov/resources-tcga-users/tcga-code-tables/sample-type-codes) . Here you can see where is in the barcode this number (https://docs.gdc.cancer.gov/Encyclopedia/pages/TCGA_Barcode/) I hope this solve your doubts Carlos
