Justin, Im in a position where Ive developed a well-functioning segmentation preprocessing approach, but have failed to produce any classification results. Still puzzled why. Is there an application process for the community phase, or is it entirely based on AUC results?

Hi Paolo, Thanks for your question. This is a question that the Challenge organizers have put much thought toward. At the end of the day, we came to the following conclusions: (1) our first priority is to assess and identify the best algorithms that can improve detection of cancer in women, and (2) our ability to restrict the use of external information is difficult to enforce and can also be somewhat subjective in assessing. Because of these two issues, we elected not to restrict how people construct their models, and allow the inclusion of models that may be informed by external data. With that said, the organizers reserve the right to invite teams with novel algorithms into the Collaborative phase, where much of the prize money is apportioned. Therefore, teams that may not perform as well in the Competitive phase but demonstrate highly innovative approaches - perhaps using only data that we provide - would be eligible for inclusion.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO TRAIN THE MODEL WITH EXTERNAL MAMMOGRAPHY DATASETS???? page is loading…
