Hi I'm trying to prepare the Data Use Certificate (DUC) for acquiring data access. I have a question about the case that the SO(signing official) and PI(principal investigator) are the same. Is it okay if SO and PI sign as the same person? Thank you.

Thanks for reaching out about the DUC! It is ok if the SO and PI are the same person, as long as there is another signature from a different requestor on the DUC. In other words, if you are requesting data and sign the form, you can have the PI sign as the SO and PI. If a PI is the only one requesting data, they cannot also sign as the SO. The reason for this is that we need to have at least 2 signatures on any given DUC to ensure it is valid. Please let me know if you have any further questions!
