Dear Challenge Participants-
My apologies for the long silence as we've worked out issues related to obtaining independent test data. We have identified two test data sets we deem as suitable for testing models built in the course of this challenge:
(1) An RSV human challenge experiment profiled using the same gene expression array as the training data sets.
(2) A Rhinovirus human challenge experiment profiled via RNA-seq.
Given the technological differences between the training data and the second data set, it will be an open question whether models build on expression array data will be predictive in that case, but we hope you will be interested in giving it your best effort.
We will release the predictive variables in two rounds with the first including data up to hour 0, and the second including data up to hour 24, with the tentative timing of releasing the first round data on January 10th, running through February 1st, and releasing the second round data on February 2nd, running through February 15th.
We hope for now, you can enjoy your holidays and look forward to more news after January 1st. Best wishes,
Solly Sieberts
