I happened to note that there is a serious shortage of Asian, African, and South American members in the Program Committee. Since it is still under construction, I thought it might be of value to bring forward this reflection. The contribution to almost all fields, in particular, in East Asia has grown rapidly and is likely to continue to do so, so I am afraid that important perspectives and resources for the challenge could be missed unless the Program Committee is made more representative of the world we live in.
